Our investment options

Mercer Super offers a range of investment options. These include 'ready-made' and 'select-your-own' options, as well as Mercer Direct.

You can get all the details about the options available to you in the Mercer Super Investments Booklet.

Mercer SmartPath®

If you don’t make an active choice your super will be invested in a default MySuper investment option. For most Mercer Super members, that’s Mercer SmartPath, a life-stage option that automatically adjusts your level of risk as you approach and move through retirement.

Our investment experts manage your Mercer SmartPath portfolio to help ensure your asset mix is appropriate to your age. The focus is on growth assets in your younger years, with a gradual shift to more defensive assets as you near and enter retirement. Learn more about Mercer SmartPath.

Tax and investment returns

If you have a super account, or a Transition to Retirement (TTR) account, your investment returns are taxed at a special rate within the fund, usually 15%. Once you reach age 65 (or age 60 and retire permanently from the workforce) you can open an allocated pension account where investment returns are tax free.
